TF2 Level and DnD 4th Ed

We push little cart!
We push little cart!

Just thought I’d let the curious cats out there know that I’m currently working on a Team Fortress 2 payload map, the same game-type as the ever so popular Gold Rush. I’ve also been poking around in Radiant, Infinity Wards level editor for CoD4, though I probably won’t end up creating a level in it, it was fun to see a different tool set.

Other than that I’ve been reading up on the DnD 4th edition core rulebooks and I’m rather pleased. Just as videogames have taken from DnD systems, now DnD takes systems from videogames. There are so many fundamental rule changes that simplify the core systems.

I’ve heard some opinions say how that simplifying them, they seem more watered down and generic. But I digress, it doesn’t take away from the soul of the game, it just changed it in a way that is more logical and makes sense to a broader audience. Most of your favourite spells are still in there, you just cast them in different and more interesting ways.

Bandits Pass

Bandits Pass!

I thought I’d delve into the Warcraft III editor today so I started with a simple 1v1 melee map. To my delight the editor was super user friendly and also fun to use. I didn’t even notice the whole day went by until I finished. I went with a bandit theme (if you couldn’t tell by the bitchin name). I also threw in some murlocs and kobolds for good measure. After all, what’s warcraft without murlocs and kobolds!?

If you have Warcraft III and the expansion I urge you to download it now and give it a whirl!

The End of GD09

July 1, 2008 at 12:01 am (General) (, , , , )

What a week! Our last class was last wednesday, graduation on thursday and the grad party on friday. I don’t think I could have asked for a better class to graduate with. It really doesn’t seem like a year to me. It feels like yesterday we we’re all drawing obscene things in pictochat in term 2.

Grad!

Well now that the VFS chapter is closed in my life, I’ll be devoting all my time and effort into this portfolio and using it to land a job. Right this second I’m working on a melee Warcraft III map. A few play testing sessions later I’ll post throw it up on here as well as the design process.

Anyways keep on checking back for more updates! I guarantee you’ll see a slew more soon.

Cheers!

Robots in motion!

June 15, 2008 at 6:28 pm (General) (, , , , , , , , )

Just uploaded some videos to youtube; one gameplay trailer and the other is the cinematic intro to the game. The quality isn’t the best so I’m working on also uploading the videos to filefront so you can check out the videos in all their glory.

Heres the sexy intro cinematic. Big ups to Sam Irwin for making the intro in UT3 matinée.

Some of the in game play.

Ajax and Argo – Complete!

June 13, 2008 at 6:04 pm (General) (, , , , , , , , , )

It’s done!

DVD Cover!

Four months of blood, sweat and tears summed up in a nice little package. I’m still in shock and awe over how fast it went by. Given that it was only 6 months from pre-pro to final, it still felt like it all happened in the blink of an eye. I’ll be uploading the actual game to filefront.com tomorrow, so check back for that!

In the mean time… More screens of the gorgeous box! Oouuu just look at that sexy manual!

Inside the box!

And the DVD itself! I have to admit, Argo does suit the red paint-job.

DVD!

Site up!

June 13, 2008 at 3:29 pm (General)

Ah, my first blog post! I just got the site up, so the site is quite barren on the content side. I’ll be adding more pages with fantastical things like docs, charts and pics. Come on back soon!
